\u2028Two former League of Legends<\/a> world champions will clash on Thursday, August 18, when EDward Gaming take on FunPlus Phoenix in the second round of the LoL Pro League (LPL) 2022 Summer Playoffs.<\/p>\n

FunPlus Phoenix edged past OMG (3-2) in the first round of the LPL 2022 Summer playoffs on Thursday, but it wasn’t a clean performance from Park “Summit” Woo-tae and his crew. Instead, it was a chaotic game that did not make much sense, but that was expected from two LoL esports teams that are not exactly known for consistency or clean gameplay.<\/p>\n

FunPlus Phoenix were the better team on the day, but that’s not to say they were good. We saw numerous questionable plays, throws, and overall a terrible performance from both teams. Luckily, neither team was efficient in taking advantage of the opponent’s mistakes. But that will change on Thursday.<\/p>\n

EDward Gaming haven’t had the best regular season, but they have improved in the latter stages of the split, winning six of their last seven outings. So even though EDG have yet to reach their ultimate form and don’t look like serious title contenders (yet), this is an elite-level team going against a squad that perhaps shouldn’t have even reached the second round of the playoffs.<\/p>\n

As a methodical and calculated squad, EDG couldn’t have hoped for a better opponent. If we don’t factor in side bias, this is a clean sweep in the making.<\/p>\n
