The 2025 season introduces a brand-new 1v1 series, running alongside the traditional 3v3 format, offering individual players a chance to showcase their talents on the global RLCS stage.
New 1v1 Series Format
The 1v1 competition will be divided across the first two splits of the season:
Split 1: Open qualifiers will take place in Europe, South America (SAM), and Asia-Pacific (APAC). Top players will compete for cash prizes, and the winners from Europe and SAM will face off at the first Major’s 1v1 final.
Split 2: North America, Middle East & North Africa (MENA), Oceania (OCE), and Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) will host their qualifiers, with the top players progressing to the second Major’s 1v1 final.
The winners from these Majors will then battle in a 1v1 showdown at the 2025 World Championship, creating a new dimension of individual competition and rivalries, including the potential for teammates to face each other.
Last Chance Open Qualifiers
A new “Last Chance Open Qualifier” will be introduced, held between Major 2 and the World Championship.
These qualifiers will occur in the four strongest regions based on performance at Majors.
Only one team from each region will advance to the World Championship, raising the stakes and giving underdog teams one final opportunity to qualify.
Expanded World Championship
The 2025 World Championship will expand from 16 to 20 teams, including a new play-in stage.
Four teams from the Last Chance Qualifiers will compete against the lowest-seeded teams from the lowest-ranked regions.
From this stage, four teams will advance to join the top 12 in the main event.
This format gives more teams a shot at glory on the biggest stage in Rocket League.
Ranking Qualification System
A new Rankings Qualification system will also streamline the qualification process.
The top eight teams from each qualifier will automatically advance to later stages in the next Open Qualifier, bypassing early rounds.
This system won’t apply to the first qualifier of each split or the Last Chance Qualifier, maintaining competitiveness for fresh challengers.
With these exciting changes, the 2025 RLCS season promises to deliver more opportunities, intense rivalries, and unforgettable moments.

In what was a similar story to most of the BDS’ series throughout the playoffs, Evan “M0nkey M00n” Rogez and co. stormed back from a series deficit to lift the trophy.
In the lead-up to the World Championship grand final, BDS defeated FURIA Esports 3-2 in the tiebreaker for the fourth seed before beating G2 Stride 4-3 for the first time in the upper bracket semi-finals and Team Falcons 4-3 in the semi-finals.
Outside of the Falcons clash, BDS were made to come from behind to win in the other two series, which appeared to set them up perfectly for the grand final, when they fell behind 1-0 and 2-1 throughout the best-of-seven clash.
G2 couldn’t have asked for a better start to the final, as the North American squad, spurred on by the home crowd, smashed BDS 5-0 in the opening game.
The second game was much closer and overtime was needed; however, Brice “ExoTiiK” Bigeard didn’t need much longer as he scored the first and winning goal of the match within 10 seconds of play to level the series at 1-1.
BDS started the third game with more confidence and put up a strong fight, but thanks to a strong performance from the G2 squad, they regained the series lead with a 3-1 victory.
With the score sitting at 2-1 in the grand final series, BDS took a timeout to talk things over, and it paid off quickly.
Team BDS went on to dominate the fourth and fifth games, winning 4-1 and 5-2, respectively, giving themselves a championship point in the sixth game.
Although the game score reads 3-2, BDS jumped out to an early lead and controlled possession for most of the game to secure the championship title.

For M0nkey M00n, the victory earned him his second World Championship title following his maiden title with BDS in 2022, which was also played in Dickies Arena in Fort Worth.
ExoTiiK took the highest individual honour of the event, as he was awarded the Most Valuable Player following a stellar grand final performance for the champions.
On the other side of the pitch, history repeated itself for G2, as they fell to BDS once again in the grand final of the World Championship in the same arena as their 2022 loss.
G2 Stride entered Worlds full of confidence following their third-fourth-place finish at the Esports World Cup, victory at the London Major, and runner-up finish at the Copenhagen Major throughout the season.
However, it was BDS that they couldn’t defeat, losing their only two series of the tournament to the European powerhouse.
With the 2024 season now over, we look forward to a bigger and better 2025 season of the RLCS.
During the broadcast of the grand final, the RLCS announced that the 2025 season will offer US$5 million in prize money and kick off much earlier than previous seasons, returning in January.

The season-ending event of the 2024 Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) will take place this week in Fort Worth, where the world’s best team will congregate for the RLCS World Championship.

Vitality kicked off the playoff bracket with a 4-2 win against Team Falcons, setting up a semi-final battle between Europe’s top two seeds.
The first semi-final between Vitality and Karmine Corp was a tight back-and-forth series, but after KC levelled the match at two maps apiece, Vitality claimed the fifth and sixth maps to book their place in the grand final.
On the other side of the bracket, Team BDS steamrolled both G2 Esports (4-1) and Team Liquid (4-0) to set up a rematch of the Spring Split Major final from just over a month ago.
After both Vitality and BDS had dominated their respective sides of the bracket, there were high expectations placed on the final series of the World Championship; however, Vitality continued their dominant run and claimed the title with four straight map wins.
Vitality’s roster of Yanis “Alpha54” Champenois, Andrea “Radosin” Radovanovic and Alexis “zen” Bernier ended the 2022-23 Rocket League season as the best team in the world, after winning both the Spring Split Major and World Championship titles in back-to-back events.
After the final, zen was named the RLCS World Championship Most Valuable Player, while Spacestation Gaming’s Logan “Lj” Wilt and Karmine Corp’s Axel “Vatira” Touret were named the Offensive and Defensive MVPs respectively.

?The offered Rocket League betting odds on this match are a bit out of control. Even though Team Falcons are the second-best team from EMEA and Team Secret are the third seed from South America, the $6.00 price for the latter is somewhat disrespectful.
Team Secret lost against Karmine Corp (4-1) on Tuesday but performed much better than the final score would suggest. Roberto Lima “Sad” de Souza and his crew only really struggled on the first map (1-3) but were highly competitive on the second, fourth and fifth, which all ended in overtime.
Team Falcons didn’t look too bad in their loss to Team BDS, but their map-to-map performance was highly volatile. Admittedly, they lost two maps in overtime, so it’s fair to say they came close to winning, but that doesn’t justify them being priced as $1.11 favourites for this match.
Team Secret performed much better than expected in the first round of the tournament, and against strong opposition. So even though Secret’s showing in the play-ins was concerning, they should never be priced as such big underdogs for this bout.

?Complexity had an explosive start to their series against Team Liquid and looked like they would come out ahead, but they ran out of steam in the final stretch and lost 3-4. It was a decent performance from North America’s third seed, but there are some things Complexity have to work on.
Ninjas in Pyjamas were favoured to defeat KRU Esports in their opening match of Group A, but they fumbled their chances. Like Complexity, Ninjas in Pyjamas were in a great spot to win but ended up losing the final two maps and were left empty-handed.
Complexity played a competitive game against a stronger opponent and won their only previous clash with NiP, getting up 3-1 in July; however, their odds are way too short for our liking. This should be a competitive game, so we prefer to be on the side of NiP with a 2.5-map advantage.

Karmine Corp and Team BDS have met 13 times at Rocket League Championship Series events, and the overall record for those matches couldn’t be much closer. BDS lead the head-to-head series count 7-6, although KC lead maps won 36-35 and goals scored 169-163.
Karmine Corp automatically qualified for the group stage, kicking off their tournament against Team Secret. KC were made to work in that match, as three of the five maps went to overtime; however, Europe’s number one team were too good for their South American rivals and took the series 4-1.
Team BDS also earned automatic qualification for the group stage, and their opening clash was against Team Falcons. That series went back and forth over six maps, trading lopsided results throughout. Ultimately, BDS packed too much firepower for Falcons and took the series 4-2.
BDS have had the wood over KC in recent time, with three of the last four meetings going their way – including the 4-3 victory at the RLCS Spring Major. Although KC have been marked as the bookies’ favourite in this series, we will be backing Team BDS to get the job done.

Team Liquid scraped through their opening group stage series against Complexity after the pair traded maps through the first five. To win the series, Liquid put together the first set of back-to-back map wins, and claimed the 4-3 result.
It is easy to say that Liquid needed the game to warm into the RLCS World Championship and they were just blowing out the cobwebs, but they will need to be much better in this series if they hope to advance to the semi-finals.
After going through the wildcard stage to qualify for the group stage, KRU Esports upset their South American rivals Ninjas in Pyjamas in their opening series. That was one of the tighter series we have seen so far, with four of the seven maps going to overtime. NiP looked to have the series within their grasp, but KRU eked out a 1-0 win on the sixth map before ending the series with a dominant 3-1 win on the final map to claim the contest 4-3.
With Liquid currently marked at $1.20 by most of the best esports betting sites, they are way too short for our liking, so we will be playing in the total maps market.

Gen.G Mobil1 Racing enter their first match of the RLCS World Championship 2023 as firm favourites to defeat Twisted Minds, who barely made it to the tournament’s second stage. The Saudi squad finished the play-ins with a 3-2 record, with their wins coming against Pioneers (4-1), Moist Esports (4-2), and PWR (4-0).
Twisted Mind held their own, and beating Moist is no small feat, but seeing them lose against KRU Esports (0-4) is concerning as it raises the question of whether Ahmed “Senzo” Ayed and co. have it in them to do well against a stronger opponent like Gen.G.
Gen.G don’t look too scary heading into the World Championship, as they’ve not won a regional event since the Winter Open. But they’re consistently beating weaker teams and have only really struggled when faced with top-tier opponents.
Twisted Mind have proven that they can be competitive, but Gen.G Mobil1 Racing will be too much for the Saudi squad to handle.

?FaZe Clan have met with Spacestation Gaming five times since the turn of the year and won four series, including their most recent three with 4-1, 3-0, and 4-0 results. Spacestation’s only win over FaZe happened in the first match of the Spring Open, when they eked out a 3-2 victory.
Considering their strong head-to-head record, FaZe Clan are understandably priced as favourites. But Spacestation haven’t looked too bad in the play-ins, and their run at the Spring Split Major wasn’t terrible either, as it was cut short with defeats against two strong teams in Karmine Corp (1-3) and Gen.G (2-3).
But the biggest point against FaZe Clan is the decision to change their coach at the start of the month. Robert Louis “Chrome” Gomez is an excellent coach, but when you have a change like that so close to the World Championship, it can’t benefit the roster.

?Rule One were incredible at the RLCS 2022-23 Spring Split Major, where they defied all odds and claimed fourth place with their only defeats coming against the two finalists, Team BDS (0-3) and Team Vitality (0-4).
G2 Esports didn’t attend the final major of the season after failing to find any success in spring, but this is the same team that placed top eight at the Winter Split Major. G2 Esports also didn’t look too bad in the play-ins, although their wins came against Limitless (4-0), Spacestation Gaming (4-3) and Complexity (4-0).
G2 Esports are in good form, but their recent wins don’t mean much and likely won’t translate to Wednesday’s fixture. The offered RLCS betting odds seem way off and should arguably be reversed.

Despite coming in first for Oceania’s season, Pioneers did not qualify for the RLCS Spring Major and didn’t look too sharp at the RLCS Winter Major, where they won just one game across the three series. Those results and the fact that the Pioneers don’t have a coach explain why they aren’t expected to make it far in Germany.
Twisted Minds, the third seed in MENA, have been very consistent throughout the season and looked extremely good in the final split, with two silver medals from the Spring Cup and Spring Invitational. With those results, Twisted Minds proved they could hang around the best team from their region; however, it remains to be seen how they’ll do on the international stage, as they’ve yet to attend a Major this season.
Even though Pioneers have proven to be the top dogs in their region, the absence of a coach will be a problem on the big stage. Take the favourites at the moneyline.

PWR, Oceania’s second seed, are one of the most unpredictable teams in the RLCS 2022-23 World Championship. They started the season by winning the final two regional events of the opening split, then finished all three Winter Split events in fifth-eighth, and bounced back with a first, third, and second in the three RLCS Spring Split regional events.
In July, at the RLCS 2022-23 Spring Split Major, PWR won just one game against Ground Zero (3-1). However, they looked very good in their narrow defeat against Rule One (2-3).
Oxygen Esports had an excellent start to the season, but after a horrible run at the Fall Split Major, the European mix lost Finlay “rise.” Ferguson and replaced him with Dylan “eekso” Pickering. The new roster hasn’t looked that good, finishing Winter Split Major in 9th-12th place, and last split the team’s best run was a fifth-sixth finish in the Spring Cup.
Oxygen Esports have brand value, but results over the last two months suggest they can lose to anyone. PWR with a 2.5-map advantage is a solid bet at $2.00, but we’re getting far more value backing them on the moneyline at the top Rocket League betting sites.

Despite showing promise at the start of the season, G1 haven’t managed to find much success across the nine regional events, with just three top-four finishes in winter and fall. In the final split of the season, G1 finished the first two regionals in 9th-12th and ended the Spring Invitational in seventh-eighth.
There were also rumours that G1 wanted to make roster changes ahead of the RLCS 2022-23 World Championship, which can’t help the team’s morale.
KRU Esports have won three regionals this season, including the Spring Open and Spring Invitational. They finished top eight at the Winter Split Major but struggled to deliver in the Spring Split Major, crashing out in 13th-16th place.
Even though KRU’s placement at the last Major wasn’t convincing, they have the tools to make it far, and if they do, it’ll likely be thanks to Arthur “drufinho” Langsch Miguel. Considering what KRU and G1 have shown lately, we would argue that the RLCS betting odds on this match should be reversed.

Elevate are one of the weaker teams attending the RLCS 2022-23 World Championship, but they’ve had a good season. During the final split, they won two out of three events, losing only the APAC Spring Invitational (runner-up). Elevate also performed relatively well at the RLCS Spring Major, where they took a game from Team Vitality (1-3) and played a competitive match against Team Liquid (0-3).
Even so, Team Falcons are expected to crush Elevate on Thursday. Nicholas “Nick” Marrone’s men looked good in MENA regional events until the final split when they finished the Spring Open in fourth and Spring Invitational in third place, missing out on the RLCS Spring Split Major.
Poor results at the end of the split don’t make Team Falcons a weak side, but they probably shouldn’t be priced as $1.10 favourites to defeat Elevate. We like the underdogs to win at least one map.

This is hardly surprising considering Europe’s success at the RLCS Spring Split Major last month when Team Vitality ($4.50), Team BDS ($5.00), and Karmine Corp ($5.50) claimed the top three spots.
North America will send a few strong representatives, including Fall Split champions Gen.G Mobil1 Racing ($7.00) and Winter Split winners FaZe Clan ($9.00). Yet both squads have been struggling lately, with FaZe missing the Spring Split Major and Gen.G finishing the event in fifth-sixth place.
Rule One ($13.00) – the top seed from the MENA region – join the list of dangerous outsiders following their dominant run through the domestic league and a surprisingly strong showing at the Spring Major. There, the Saudi Arabian squad finished fourth with their only defeats coming against the eventual finalists, Team Vitality (0-4) and Team BDS (0-3).
Likewise, South America’s Ninjas in Pyjamas ($21.00) are not to be ignored, fielding the former The Club duo of Bernardo “Bemmz” Siqueira Marta and Luiz Fellipe “Aztromick” Lopes Gomes, who left a mark at the last RLCS World Championship. Even this season, NiP showed good form domestically, although their sole international appearance resulted in a 9th-12th finish at the RLCS Spring Major.
Team Vitality seeking more RLCS success
Team Vitality come into the RLCS 2022-23 World Championship as clear favourites with online bookmakers and esports analysts. By winning the RLCS 2022-23 Spring Split Major, they completed a perfect split, having also won the three European regional events – Spring Open, Spring Cup, and Spring Invitational.
Much of Vitality’s late resurgence was thanks to phenomenal performances from Alexis “zen” Bernier. The 16-year-old won the tournament MVP and Offensive MVP reward at the RLCS 2022-23 Spring Major, where he averaged a 1.195 rating with 2.15 saves and 0.85 goals per game.
His teammates, Yanis “Alpha54” Champenois and Andrea “Radosin” Radovanovi?, also played an incredible tournament, ranking among the top-performing players. It seems like everything is falling into place for Vitality to complete their five-peat, so the question is not so much whether they can do it, but rather if any team can stop them.
RLCS 2022-23 World Championship betting predictions
Team Vitality are deserving favourites to win RLCS 2022-23 World Championship, but there are two teams that can spoil their plans.
Karmine Corp have been one of the more consistent Rocket League esports teams of the year, as they’ve not placed worse than fourth across all regional events this season. They also collected a bronze medal from the Spring Split Major, narrowly losing the lower-bracket final against Vitality (3-4).
It marked KC’s fourth head-to-head defeat against Vitality from five meetings since the start of the final split, but the last two losses were all very close, suggesting that Karmine Corp, on a good day, can derail the European champions.
Team BDS’ title claims rest largely on their 4-1 victory over Team Vitality in the upper-bracket semifinals of the RLCS 2022-23 Spring Split Major. Still, they got crushed by Vitality just a day later in the Major finals, worsening their head-to-head record since the start of the split to 1-5.
Compared to others, Team BDS and Karmine Corp stand some chance of defeating Team Vitality and denying them the world title. But we would need to get a much better offer on the outsiders to consider fading the outright favourites.
