MIBR, who have only lost one match in Malta so far, will now face the in-form M80 in their first-ever meeting.
Heroic started strong on Mirage, jumping to a 9-3 lead on the terrorist side.
MIBR fought back after the side switch but ultimately faltered in the 21st round, losing to only two guns.
Anubis played out similarly, with Heroic leading much of the first half before MIBR’s resurgence after the break.
Despite a fumble in a 2v1 situation, MIBR kept their composure and closed out the game.
The momentum carried into Nuke, where Felipe “?insani?” Yuji’s standout performance led MIBR to a commanding 9-3 lead.
Though Heroic won the second pistol round, their comeback was stopped by MIBR’s force-buy win.

Eternal Fire also booked their spot in the quarter-finals after a grueling three-map series against The MongolZ.
Mirage saw both teams in near parity, with The MongolZ taking the map in overtime.
However, Eternal Fire bounced back on Anubis, driven by star rifler Ismailcan “?XANTARES?” D?rtkarde?, before taking Inferno in a hard-fought 13-11 victory.
The MongolZ will now regroup for IEM Rio, while Eternal Fire prepare to face Vitality.

In other action, Spirit secured a quarter-final berth after defeating Imperial 2-0 in a tense series (Nuke 16-13, Dust2 13-3).
Spirit’s star, Danil “?donk?” Kryshkovets, played a key role in the victory, despite some struggles on Nuke.
Imperial fought valiantly, especially on Nuke, but were ultimately outclassed on Dust2.
Spirit will now face Natus Vincere in the top-eight stage.

Complexity, who looked solid against FaZe, were overwhelmed by Liquid’s preparation and individual prowess, particularly from Roland “?ultimate?” Tomkowiak and Mareks “?YEKINDAR?” Ga?inskis.
Liquid’s flawless defence on Nuke and clutch performances on Anubis sealed their victory, setting up a quarter-final clash with G2 Esports.

Imperial Esports and M80 will meet on Saturday, September 14, in the Group C upper-bracket final of ESL Pro League Season 20. Both teams have exceeded expectations — especially the Brazilian lineup, who bested MOUZ in the upper-bracket semifinal.
Imperial’s strong showing on Wednesday explains the betting odds offered by the top Counter-Strike bookmakers, although it is not fair to overlook what M80 have produced so far. While they have had an easier path, Elias “s1n” Stein still bested Complexity and Fnatic, which is no small feat.
M80 have an impressive 8-2 record from their last 10 outings, yet just three of their five players hold a positive average rating in ESL Pro League Season 20. In contrast, all but Vinicius “VINI” Figueiredo on Imperial have gone at 1.06 or better over their last two series.
Jo?o “felps” Vasconcellos (1.29) and Lucas “decenty” Bacelar (1.37) have been the driving force behind Imperial’s Cinderella run. On the other hand, M80 have a better win rate on four of the seven maps: Anubis (100%), Ancient (78%), Vertigo (50%), and Inferno (75%).
At $1.66, Imperial Esports are given a 60.2% implied probability of beating M80, which makes sense considering their victory against MOUZ. However, the world’s No.5 team haven’t been in the best shape of late, so that result can be taken with a grain of salt.
While this is Imperial’s game to lose, M80 should not be underestimated. If they can play around their maps, the American-German lineup should be able to put up a decent fight.

Despite rebuilding their roster after failing to qualify for the PGL Major Copenhagen, Astralis has seen their form decline since notable top-four finishes at IEM Chengdu and ESL Pro League Season 19.

MOUZ also saw disappointment in their ESL Pro League campaign, losing to Imperial in overtime on Dust2 (16-14) and Inferno (16-13).
Despite being ranked No. 1 earlier this year and having a strong season, MOUZ faltered, with players like Ludvig “Brollan” Brolin struggling significantly, posting just six kills on Inferno.

M80 made headlines with a record-breaking 71-round match against fnatic on Anubis, the longest Counter-Strike 2 map on HLTV.
M80 won the epic battle in octuple overtime (37-34) before also taking Inferno in extra time (16-13).
Their victory secured a playoff spot and marked a breakthrough for North American CS, making them the first NA team outside Complexity and Liquid to reach Big Event playoffs since 2019.

The tournament will feature 16 of the best Counter-Strike 2 teams from around the world, competing for the lion’s share of the US$1,000,000 total prize pool, which includes the US$150,000 that was on offer for each of the six qualifiers.
The event kicks off with an online stage from October 21-26, where teams will battle in a single-elimination best-of-three bracket.
The top four teams will then advance to the LAN finals in Berlin.
The LAN event will follow the same format, concluding with a third-place decider match.
Six teams have already qualified for the tournament: Cloud9 and BLEED Esports from Europe, Legacy and M80 from North America, and BESTIA and Imperial from South America.
They will be joined by 10 invited teams, with Team Falcons, Heroic, Fnatic, and BIG among the first announced.
This is the second edition of the Thunderpick World Championship, with FaZe Clan winning last year’s entirely online event and claiming the $250,000 top prize.
This year’s prize pool has increased, with $500,000 reserved for the winner.
After a break following the online stage, the LAN finals promise to deliver two days of intense CS2 action.

Group C at ESL Pro League Season 20 starts with a clash between Astralis and Fnatic, who have yet to face off this season. But even with no head-to-head fixtures, it is easy to see why Astralis are expected to win.
Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz and co. have not won a tournament this year and didn’t make it very far at Intel Extreme Masters Cologne 2024 in August. However, Astralis have posted promising performances against the world’s elite teams over the last month, which gives hope they are slowly finding momentum.
Fnatic are 2-3 from their last five series, with those wins coming against Cloud9 and OG — hardly world-beaters. Nevertheless, they have shown improvement, and with the talent on this roster, they should be able to make some noise in Malta.
At $1.65 to take a map off Astralis, Fnatic are an obvious choice.

Imperial Esports are priced as slight favourites to defeat BIG, who have failed to find much success at the top level this year. On the other side, Imperial have not won any significant titles either, so it is not like the teams’ accomplishments are the main differentiating factor.
The Brazilians are in a much better spot in terms of map pools, with a better win rate on all maps except for Ancient, which is BIG’s second-best map, but it will likely get banned. Imperial also come out ahead on individual form, with all five players averaging a 1.04 performance rating or higher.
Despite all that, we have to consider that Imperial have been playing weaker opponents than BIG of late. Expect a close affair.

Team Liquid had an explosive start to IEM Cologne 2024 at the beginning of August but failed to make it past FaZe Clan (twice) and crashed out of the tournament in seventh-eighth place. Since their former lineup fell apart, ENCE have not come close to winning a single big event. They’ve been particularly disappointing over the last month, with early exits from IEM Rio 2024, Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024, and ThunderPick World Championship 2024 qualifiers.
As the latest Counter-Strike esports odds suggest, this should be a one-sided affair. Anything less than a 2-0 sweep would be a major disappointment for Team Liquid.

Complexity secured their ticket for PGL Copenhagen Major 2024 on Monday when they defeated Team Liquid in the final round of the American RMR. Before that, they suffered early exits from BLAST Premier Spring Groups 2024 and Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2024, so Complexity still have a lot to prove.
OG have not been competitive for a while now, and the recent departure of coach Casper “ruggah” Due to Astralis won’t help. OG have not won a tournament since BLAST Premier Fall Groups 2022, and they enter the Spring Showdown with just one win from their last six series.
OG are not only in bad form, but they also don’t have the talent to compete at the highest level. Complexity aren’t perfect either, as they rely too much on Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski to do all the heavy lifting. Still, they’re in a much better spot than OG and should come away with a comfortable win.

Imperial’s recent success is largely thanks to Henrique “HEN1” Teles. The 28-year-old averaged a 1.62 performance rating at the American RMR; however, his teammates Kaiky “noway” Santos (1.47) and Jo?o “felps” Vasconcellos (1.45) weren’t too far behind.
Monte were very competitive in the second half of 2023, but after seeing them lose two key players, it’s tough to feel optimistic about their chances to do well at BLAST Premier Spring Showdown 2024.

This looks like a 50-50 game, so we don’t have to think twice before siding with Imperial to hand Fnatic their fourth-straight loss.

They’ve not accomplished anything noteworthy since transitioning to an international roster. In July, NaVi exited BLAST Premier Fall Groups 2023 in fourth-sixth place, and they have since added two early exits from Intel Extreme Masters Cologne 2023 (7th-8th) and Gamers8 2023 (5th-8th). Reaching the top eight at any big event still counts for something, but the big issue with NaVi is their lack of consistency.
5yclone are the third-ranked team from Asia, and they’ve placed second in all three events Liang “advent” Zhuo has competed in, including Perfect World Arena Premier League Season 5: Professional Division. Although they’re still a class below NaVi talent-wise, 5yclone are a solid longshot bet.

G2 Esports won their last meeting with Cloud (16-13, 16-6) in April, but Rasmus “HooXi” Nielsen and co. were in good form then, so that result doesn’t hold much weight here. Regardless of their failure to win a single tournament in 2023, Heroic are the best-performing team of the year. This sounds like a hot take, but they are by far the most consistent team and more than capable of winning the BLAST Premier Spring Final.
Complexity are the complete opposite. Not only are they very inconsistent, but they’ve also not won a significant event this year and have not beaten a top-rated team once since February when they forced Heroic to three maps (1-2) at Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2023.
Knowing all that, it makes sense for esports betting sites to price Heroic as heavy favourites, but the $8.00 on Complexity seems too generous. The Danes should win, but they also tend not to give their all when faced with weaker teams, so it’s not too wild to believe Heroic might drop a map.

Fer is a 31-year-old Brazilian rifler who started his CS:GO journey in 2013 and has since sailed to represent some of the best esports teams. These teams include Luminousity Gaming, which he joined in 2015 and made a high point with at the 2016 ESL Pro League Season 3 Finals, when the team came in a close battle with G2 Esports but emerged victorious, defeating them and coming out in first place at the tournament. Fer was also signed up with Afterall Gaming, KaBuM! e-Sports, Games Academy, SK Gaming, 00 Nation, and a list of others.
Following fer’s departure, the team also immediately announced his replacement, which is the former MIBR rifler Jhonatan “JOTA” Willian.
“What comes after “i” in the alphabet? HOTA! Let’s welcome our newest addition, JOTA. Let your path be full of success and achievements with us. Welcome,” Imperial Esports announced.
It is expected that JOTA brings his A game to the team, as substituting one of the best riflers will be a huge responsibility to assume. The team’s new rifler started his CS:GO run in 2018 and has since played for underdog teams such as Play4Lan, Santos e-Sports, Keyd Stars, and a few others. Despite representing smaller teams, JOTA has still managed to conquer the domestic scene and earn himself a couple of awards. The 24-year-old rifler was ranked the best player of 2021 in Brazil by DRAFT5.
Some of JOTA’s best moments were emerging winners with his team MIBR at the 2022 CCT Central Europe Series #1, the ESL Challenger League Season 40: North America, the ESL Challenger League Season 43: North America, and making it to the finals of the 2021 CBCS finals and the 2022 PGL Major Antwerp American RMR.
Current Imperial Esports’ 2023 CS:GO roster now includes the esports prodigy Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo, 25-year-old rifler Ricardo “boltz” Prass, Vinicius “VINI” Figueiredo, Marcelo “chelo” Cespedes, JOTA, and their 32-year-old coach Lincoln “fnx” Lau.
Fer will be joining a new team soon without a doubt, as he has bagged a handful of awards that have made him a point of attraction for teams. The 31-year-old rifler was named the MVP by HLTV at the Esports Championship Series Season 3 Finals, ranked the 15th best player of 2016, ranked the 3rd best player of 2017, and the list continues.
It is unknown what team fer will be joining soon. Although he is a very admired and wanted player, it is likely that he is already in talks with another esports outfit or has entered into a verbal agreement with a CS:GO team. However that plays out, an official announcement on the player’s new team is most likely going to be revealed in the following weeks.
