G2 Esports has solidified their position as one of the top teams in the world of VALORANT esports, and their latest victory at VCT Masters Bangkok only adds to their growing legacy.

Despite not being a partnered team, G2 has defied expectations and climbed to the grand final in stunning fashion, taking down none other than the reigning world champions, EDward Gaming, in a dominant 2-0 victory.

The upper bracket final was expected to be a high-intensity battle, but G2 made quick work of their opponents.

The first map, Lotus, was competitive early on, with G2 narrowly leading 7-5 at halftime.

However, their second-half performance left no doubts, as they pulled away for a 13-8 win.

Split, a map G2 had played only once in 2024—and lost—was up next.

EDG, known for their strength on this map, were expected to put up a fight, but the script remained the same.

Despite an early lead off the pistol round, EDG faltered under G2’s relentless pressure.

A commanding 13-7 victory secured G2’s place in the grand final, marking their first Tier 1 international final appearance.

The standout performances came from Trent “trent” Cairns and Jonah “JonahP” Pulice, both posting a 1.22 rating, but the real difference-maker was Alexander “jawgemo” Mor.

G2’s newest addition finished with 37 kills, 155 ADR, and seven opening frags, cementing his impact in this critical win.

It was a particularly sweet moment for G2, who avenged their only loss of the tournament—an earlier group stage defeat to EDG.

With this result, G2 has emerged as a true contender for the VCT Masters Bangkok title.

Their dominant 2025 record speaks volumes; in eight best-of-three matches, they have won seven via 2-0 sweeps, with their only loss coming in a close 2-1 to EDG.

Now, G2 stands at the precipice of greatness, awaiting their final opponent.

Meanwhile, EDward Gaming must battle through the lower bracket final to earn a rematch.

Historically, lower brackets have not been kind to EDG, but this time, they have an opportunity in a best-of-five setting rather than an early elimination match.

They will face T1, who secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Team Vitality.

T1’s lower bracket run has been nothing short of impressive.

Their match against Vitality started with an intense battle on Lotus, where they utilized a unique double-Duelist setup.

Despite an early lead, T1 found themselves in a back-and-forth struggle before ultimately falling 14-12 in overtime.

However, they bounced back in commanding fashion on Haven, dominating with an aggressive strategy and closing the map 13-4.

The deciding map, Split, saw T1 execute flawlessly, exposing Vitality’s slow-paced attack and securing a 13-5 victory to clinch the series.

Key players stepped up for T1 in their lower bracket run.

While Kim “Meteor” Tae-o had a strong performance, it was Yu “BuZz” Byung-chul who shined the brightest, leading with a 1.20 rating and a remarkable 15 first kills—five more than the next closest player.

EDward Gaming and T1 will clash again for the second time in the playoffs after EDG defeated their Korean opponents in a back-and-forth 2-1 series win.
